Strong Winds and Dust Storms Expected in Several Regions of Uzbekistan

Today, April 20, adverse weather conditions, specifically strong winds and dust storms, are expected in several regions of Uzbekistan, Zamin.uz reports. According to official data from the Hydrometeorological Service Agency, air currents will significantly intensify in the northern, southern, and central provinces of the country.
Specifically, wind speeds in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Bukhara, and Navoi regions are predicted to reach 15 to 20 meters per second. Such strong air currents are highly likely to lift the topsoil, creating dust storms that limit visibility.
Experts also warn that similar conditions may occur in certain districts of Jizzakh, Syrdarya, and Surkhandarya regions. At the same time, forecasters highlighted the risk of continued precipitation until the end of the week.
As previously reported, flash floods and mudflows may occur in the foothill and mountainous areas of the republic between April 18 and April 23. Due to the possibility of rising water levels in rivers and streams resulting from heavy rains, residents and tourists in these areas are urged to take necessary precautions.
Citizens are advised to avoid staying outdoors for extended periods during such unfavorable weather, and individuals prone to respiratory diseases are recommended to wear medical masks. Additionally, safety requirements include not parking vehicles under trees or unstable structures during strong winds.
Specialists are constantly monitoring the situation, and further updates will be provided as conditions change.
