The Central Bank denied reports about a new 500 thousand soum banknote

The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued an official statement regarding reports circulating on social media about the introduction of a new 500,000-sum banknote into circulation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

The regulator categorically stated that this information is completely unfounded and does not correspond to reality. In recent days, unverified reports have been spreading on various electronic platforms about the issuance of a new banknote of the highest denomination in Uzbekistan, featuring the portrait of the great thinker Mirzo Ulugbek.

As emphasized in the comment issued by the Central Bank, the issue of introducing a new high-denomination currency note into circulation in our country today is not under consideration. Furthermore, the public and civil society are urged to rely only on information provided through official sources.

It was warned that false information spread on various unofficial pages may lead to the formation of incorrect perceptions among citizens. It should be noted that in Uzbekistan, the denomination and design of banknotes are approved by the Central Bank's management in accordance with the established procedure.

According to current legislation, if new banknotes or coins are to be put into circulation, this will be announced in advance through official channels in the mass media and on the bank's official website. At present, the existing banknotes in circulation are fully capable of meeting the needs of the country's economy and cash circulation.

Therefore, the Central Bank calls on citizens not to trust various rumors on social media and to exercise caution when verifying information. Any changes in the national currency system are implemented based on state-level decisions and their transparency is fully ensured.
