Labour relations in the catering industry in Uzbekistan are simplified

Starting from June 1 of this year in Uzbekistan, a completely new and simplified system for formalizing labor relations will be introduced for business entities operating in the catering and service sectors. Zamin.uz reported this.
According to this update, owners of cafes, restaurants, and hotels will now be freed from excessive paperwork when hiring employees for short-term work. Entrepreneurs will now have the opportunity to legally hire workers even for a single day or a single week.
This procedure is being implemented based on a relevant decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Under the new mechanism, employers can register temporary employees through a special mobile application of the labor authorities.
This process is quite simple; the hiring of a worker, the recording of their labor activity, and the payment for the work performed are fully formalized within one day. This initiative is particularly useful for sectors with a high demand for seasonal labor, such as tourism and catering.
Previously, entrepreneurs faced complex bureaucratic processes when hiring workers for a few days, which often led to an increase in informal employment. Experts note that the new system brings forms of temporary employment in the labor market into the legal framework.
This change creates wide opportunities not only for employers but also for citizens seeking short-term sources of income, especially students and the temporarily unemployed. From now on, labor seniority will be calculated for every day worked, and social protection guarantees will be ensured.
Thus, this reform serves to reduce the share of the shadow economy and increase labor productivity in the service sector.
