Thailand will cancel the visa-free regime for citizens of Uzbekistan from 2026

The Thai government has decided to introduce significant changes to the entry procedure for the country. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Specifically, new rules for the visa-free regime and the visa-on-arrival system are planned to come into effect. According to the World News Agency, these changes will take effect from July 15, 2026, and will affect citizens of 93 countries, including Uzbekistan.
Currently, Uzbek citizens have the opportunity to travel to Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days. However, with the adoption of the new decision, this privilege will be canceled, and Uzbek citizens will no longer be able to enter freely and without a visa as before.
The said decision will come into force 15 days after its publication in the Royal Gazette, Thailand’s official journal. An official announcement is expected to be published next week.
Under the new system, Uzbek citizens will be required to obtain an online visa in advance before traveling to Thailand. For this, tourists must contact the Thai E-Visa platform, upload the necessary documents, and arrange the permit in advance.
This process will require additional time and attention when planning a trip. We remind you that, on May 20 of this year, the Thai government announced a reduction in the visa-free period for citizens of more than 90 countries due to the increasing number of crimes involving foreigners.
Following the previous decision, the 60-day visa-free regime was reduced to 30 days. Now, visa-free entry is being completely canceled, and all foreign tourists, including Uzbek citizens, will be required to obtain a visa in advance.
This step is being taken to ensure security in the country and to control the flow of tourism. Citizens planning to travel are advised to regularly monitor news from official sources and prepare their documents in a timely manner.
