
On July 4, during the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization held in Khankendi, a high-level meeting took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This meeting was significant as it aimed to bring the strategic partnership relations between the two countries to a new level through practical steps. Issues related to strengthening and expanding mutual relations were discussed based on the roadmap adopted during the meeting.
The parties noted positive results regarding the increase in mutual trade volume, the growth in the number of joint ventures, and the expansion of the geography of direct air connections with Pakistan. Currently, trade houses have been established for Uzbek entrepreneurs in the cities of Karachi and Lahore, which is of great importance for the economic integration of the two countries.
Special attention was paid to accelerating cooperation projects and programs in trade, investment, and transport-communication sectors. In particular, deepening cooperation in the construction and development of the Trans-Afghan railway was set as a goal.
This project will play a significant role not only for the two countries but also in expanding transport and logistics opportunities throughout the entire region. The effective conduct of the planned intergovernmental commission meeting and business forum this year will serve to further develop bilateral economic relations.
Clear directions were outlined for the implementation of large infrastructure projects, the creation of new jobs, and the development of joint projects. Additionally, the meeting included discussions on issues of international and regional significance, which will further strengthen the cooperation of the two countries in foreign policy.
At the same time, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's official state visit to Azerbaijan was successfully concluded. The head of state was ceremonially welcomed at Fuzuli International Airport by Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Adil Karimli and other officials.
Our President headed to Tashkent, and the negotiations held are expected to open new prospects for both countries.
