The representative office will focus on studying the republic's financial market and developing cooperation with government agencies and financial organizations. Unlike a branch, the representative office does not provide banking services to legal and physical persons.
On June 25, 2025, a Citigroup delegation held a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to attracting investments, supporting exporters, and developing public-private partnership projects.
On the same day, it was announced that the CitiBank representative office is planned to be opened soon in Tashkent. The initial agreements on opening the representative office were reached during a meeting in 2023 between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Citigroup CEO John Dugan.
