The Ecological Party of Uzbekistan firmly opposed the proposal by Murad Nazarov, the founder of Murad Buildings, to lift the moratorium on tree cutting in Tashkent city. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The party representative, deputy Javlon Abdullayev, issued an official statement regarding this matter. Nazarov had previously suggested implementing a "tree bank" system by pre-planting trees, considering the potential damage or loss of trees during the construction process.
However, the Ecological Party did not approve of this idea. According to Javlon Abdullayev, in the context of climate change and water scarcity, every mature tree is considered very important for future generations.
Growing a single large tree requires a lot of labor and significant investment over many years. Due to the moratorium not being lifted, 98 percent of trees have been preserved to date.
In just the first half of 2025, 3,200 applications for tree cutting were rejected, protecting over 453,000 trees, including more than 86,000 valuable species. At the same time, ecologists are pointing out that many of the saplings planted as compensation are drying up without growing.
The Ecological Party's statement emphasizes that any development or construction should be carried out not at the expense of ecological interests, but while maintaining a balance with them. This principle is crucial for ensuring a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.
