The southern part of Syria is once again in the center of international attention. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the information from the SANA state agency, as a result of negotiations between the government and representatives of the local population, approximately 1500 Bedouin civilians began to be evacuated from the city of Suwayda. The process of transporting people to safe areas is being carried out with the help of pickups and minibuses.
The German dpa agency also reported that the evacuation is taking place on a large scale. Initially, 350 people were transported to the neighboring Dara province.
Syrian government officials are assessing this operation as an important step towards peace and reconciliation. Interior Minister Ahmad al-Dalatiy stated that after the recent clashes, the government considers its main goal to be preventing new fighting and restoring stability in the region.
For this reason, it is planned to create opportunities for the evacuated residents of Suwayda to return to their homes. On July 19, an official statement was issued by the temporary president Ahmad al-Sha’ra's office calling for an immediate ceasefire.
However, according to some sources, some fighting is still ongoing. On July 20, information spread that the city of Suwayda, mainly inhabited by the Druze, had come fully under their control.
Experts believe that the current evacuation and peace negotiations could pave the way for long-awaited stability in the region and serve to save lives. Although the current situation intensifies uncertainty and anxiety, it is being evaluated as an important stage in the pursuit of reconciliation and peace.
