History of the Xirqai Sharif
At the end of his life, our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, entrusted his blessed garments to Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Ali, may Allah be pleased with them, and instructed that they be delivered to Uvays Qaraniy, may Allah have mercy on him. After Uvays Qaraniy's death, this sacred trust has been preserved by his descendants.
In the 17th century, at the request of Sultan Ahmed I, representatives of the Qaraniy family moved to Istanbul. In 1847, by the order of Sultan Abdulmajid, the 'Xirqai Sharif' mosque was built, and this sacred relic began to be kept there. Currently, the garment is under the protection of the 59th generation of the Qaraniy family.
'Xirqai Saodat' in Topkapi Palace
Another garment belonging to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, known as 'Xirqai Saodat', is also kept in Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. This blessed garment was gifted to the famous poet Ka'b by our Prophet. When Sultan Selim conquered Egypt in 1517, he also brought this garment to Istanbul.
The 'Xirqai Sharif' exhibition in Istanbul is considered one of the important spiritual events for Muslims. Every year, thousands of visitors come to pay homage to this sacred relic during the month of Ramadan. Currently, long queues of visitors have formed around the mosque, demonstrating deep respect for this sacred heritage.
