Putin supported the decision not to strike Ukrainian energy facilities for 30 days
The phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin has concluded. According to the Kremlin, the two leaders exchanged detailed and open views on the situation surrounding Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed his firm commitment to resolving the conflict peacefully. He also expressed his readiness to work with America to develop comprehensive, stable, and long-term solutions to the problem. Putin emphasized the need to consider Russia's security interests and noted that the root causes of the conflict must be addressed.
Through the US president's initiative to implement a 30-day ceasefire, Russia raised several important issues. These included ensuring effective control over the cessation of fire across the entire front, stopping mandatory mobilization in Ukraine, and the need to halt the rearmament process of the Armed Forces. Serious risks related to the Ukrainian regime's inability to adhere to agreements were also highlighted. These risks are aimed at sabotaging and violating previously reached agreements. Additionally, particular emphasis was placed on the terrorist attacks against the peaceful population in the Kursk region.
The Russian side also emphasized the need to completely halt foreign military aid and intelligence support to Ukraine. In response to Donald Trump's appeal to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers trapped in the Kursk region, Putin stated that the Russian side is ready to adhere to humanitarian principles. He emphasized that if the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers surrender, they will be treated humanely, and this will be carried out in accordance with Russian laws and international law.
During the phone conversation, Trump proposed an agreement to refrain from striking Ukrainian energy facilities for 30 days. Putin positively received this initiative and gave the relevant order to the Russian military. A constructive approach was also expressed regarding the implementation of Trump's previously proposed initiative to ensure the safety of ships in the Black Sea basin. It was agreed to start negotiations to further develop the specific details of this.
Vladimir Putin also provided information regarding the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine in a 175-175 format. As a humanitarian gesture, 23 severely wounded Ukrainian soldiers treated in Russian medical facilities will be handed over to the Ukrainian side.
Notably, Putin and Trump decided to continue working on resolving the Ukraine conflict in a bilateral format. In this process, the above proposals from the US president will also be taken into account. It was indicated that expert groups from Russia and the US are expected to be formed.
Following the conversation, the two presidents also discussed other issues on the international agenda, including the situation in the Middle East and the Red Sea region. Joint efforts are anticipated to stabilize the situation in conflict zones, prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons, and establish cooperation on global security issues.
During the conversation, ideas for developing cooperation between Russia and the US in the fields of economy and energy were also proposed. Additionally, Putin's initiative to organize friendly matches involving US and Russian hockey players within the framework of the NHL and KHL was supported by Trump.
Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump agreed on the idea of concluding the Ukraine conflict with a strong peace, which will help establish relations between the two state leaders.
