US President Donald Trump announced during a conversation with journalists at the White House that discussions are currently underway regarding an agreement on territories between Ukraine and Russia and a complete ceasefire, as reported by Tengrinews.kz citing RBK.
According to Trump, the ongoing negotiations between the parties are aimed at achieving peace and ending the war. He expressed optimism, stating, "We will soon achieve a complete ceasefire." The negotiations cover territorial divisions, border lines, and other urgent topics.
Trump also emphasized that ceasefire has already been established on several front lines and stated, "the conditions are being met well." He mentioned having separate conversations with President Putin and President Zelensky, which resulted in identifying points that could serve as a basis for compromise. "I had good talks with both sides and believe there are boundaries for an agreement," Trump said.
On March 18, Trump and Putin agreed over the phone to temporarily halt attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Ukraine supported this proposal and implemented a 30-day moratorium. Following that, Putin ordered the Russian army to cease attacks.
