The US has acquired the most expensive land plot in Almaty for 49 years
Deputies of the Kazakh Parliament reported that a deal for the allocation of land for the establishment of a US consulate in Almaty has been ratified, according to Tengrinews.kz.
According to the agreement, the USA will lease a land plot of 70,593 square meters for a period of 49 years. The rent payment amounts to 25 million 301 thousand 16 US dollars and will be paid in a lump sum within 30 days after the document comes into force.
During the discussion of the project, a debate arose regarding the building height and urban planning regulations. Deputy Sergey Ponomaryov stated that the building height above Al-Farabi Avenue should not exceed 22 meters, as this area is considered one of the most expensive and prestigious places in Almaty.
First Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rakhmatullin emphasized that the height of the US consulate building will indeed exceed the standard slightly. This issue was a point of contention in negotiations with the Americans. Only 1.5% of the land area is allowed to exceed the height limit for technical elements — ventilation shafts and communication antennas.
The appearance of the land plot can be viewed on the website.
