Turkey's First Lady Emine Erdoğan appealed to Melania Trump, wife of US President Donald Trump. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
She asked Melania to contact the Israeli Prime Minister and discuss the situation of children in Gaza. In her letter, Emine Erdoğan stated that she was inspired by Melania Trump's recent letter to Vladimir Putin concerning the children of Russia and Ukraine.
According to her, similar attention is necessary for the children of Gaza as well. In the letter, Emine Erdoğan said: “I believe the attention you showed to 648 Ukrainian children should also be applied to Gaza.”
She also emphasized that the Palestinian issue is increasingly being recognized worldwide. Currently, international organizations report that the level of hunger in Gaza is very high and has officially reached famine levels.
Experts say the situation could worsen further, increasing pressure on Israel to allow more humanitarian aid. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected these reports and responded, “Israel does not cause hunger; on the contrary, it prevents it.”
The war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, following a Hamas attack, and it is reported that more than 62,000 Palestinians have died so far.
