Weight Limit Introduced for Artists in Turkmenistan

In Turkmenistan, cultural sector employees were required to lose weight as part of preparations for Independence Day, which will be celebrated on September 27 this year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to local sources, actors, singers, and members of dance groups working in cultural and art institutions have been given special instructions to comply with appearance standards. To participate in the holiday program, they must meet the specified weight limits.

If they do not meet the weight standards, they will be deprived of the right to perform on stage. It is not clearly known which high authority issued this requirement, but there are significant discussions among cultural workers regarding this directive.

Some consider it beneficial for health, while others criticize it as a violation of human rights. State holidays in Turkmenistan are held with great formality, and artists play a key role in these celebrations.
