The US plans to impose new economic sanctions in cooperation with Europe to bring Russia to the negotiating table. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in an interview with NBC. According to him, the joint economic pressure from the US and the European Union could cause serious problems for Moscow and force it to enter the negotiation process.
Bessent called on Europe to learn from Washington's experience regarding sanctions, as bilateral pressure is more likely to yield effective results. Earlier, the US imposed additional tariffs on India for purchasing Russian oil.
According to reports from Bild and Reuters agencies, on September 4, US President Donald Trump firmly demanded European leaders during a meeting to stop purchasing Russian oil. These measures are considered additional pressure on the Russian economy.
At the same time, the West expects Moscow to change its political stance through the new sanctions.
