Vladimir Putin sharply increased the salaries of Russian governors
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to increase the salaries and bonuses of governors. According to the document posted on the official legal information portal, their salaries will now be equal to that of the deputy prime minister.

According to estimates by the Faridaily publication, deputy prime ministers currently earn a monthly salary of 1.2-1.3 million rubles (after the war began, Putin allowed officials not to disclose their income declarations, so their exact salaries are not known).

At the same time, according to sources from the publication, the salaries of governors are "considerably" lower, amounting to 150-200 thousand rubles.

"Thus, starting from 2026, the salaries of regional leaders will increase by at least 5-6 times. According to one high-ranking federal official, the increase will be quite significant — approximately 10 times," the report states.

According to official data, in 2024, the average salary in Russia was 87,900 rubles.
