The United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt have announced a new initiative to stop the war in Sudan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to this initiative, a humanitarian ceasefire is planned to be held initially for three months, followed by the implementation of a permanent ceasefire. The countries propose to set a nine-month transition period as the next phase of the peace process.
During this period, the formation of a new government led by civilians is envisaged. Experts believe that the conflict cannot be resolved through military means.
Fighting in Sudan is particularly intense in the Darfur region. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) control large areas in this region, and the siege of Al-Fashir city has increased the risk of famine.
At the same time, the United States has imposed sanctions on Sudan's Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim and a militia affiliated with the army. These measures are aimed at resolving the conflict through peaceful means.
