300 locomotives will be delivered to Kazakhstan
A historic contract for the largest delivery of locomotives between Kazakhstan and the United States has been signed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to Howard Lutnick, head of the US Department of Commerce, this agreement was made following a meeting between former US President Donald Trump and Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The deal is valued at four billion dollars and was concluded with the US company Wabtec.

Under the contract, the production and maintenance of 300 freight locomotives in Kazakhstan are planned. According to Tokayev’s press service, this agreement aims to strengthen the position of the Wabtec locomotive assembly plant operating in Astana since 2009.

The plant has received an investment of 230 million dollars, has produced over 600 locomotives to date, and the level of local production has reached 45 percent. Additionally, Wabtec has established a technology center in Kazakhstan to introduce innovations and train engineers.

This agreement serves to further strengthen strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and the US. The increase in large contracts is an important factor in the industrial and economic development of both countries.

This, in turn, positively impacts regional stability and economic progress.
