Ukraine and Syria reached an agreement to restore diplomatic relations on September 25, 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following a meeting with Syria's interim president Ahmad Ash-Shara within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly. According to Zelensky, the two countries signed a joint communique and agreed to restore official relations.
He expressed readiness to assist Syria in ensuring stability. During the meeting, security threats and prospects for bilateral cooperation were discussed.
The parties agreed to strengthen relations based on mutual respect and trust. For reference, Ukraine severed diplomatic ties with Damascus in 2022 after Syria recognized Donetsk and Luhansk as independent states.
Now, the parties are stepping into a new phase.
