10 people died as a result of flooding caused by heavy rain in Odessa. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This natural disaster posed a serious threat to many lives. Approximately more than 1,000 people sought assistance.
This was announced by Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksiy Kuleba. According to him, the rain and flood consequences caused significant damage to the city’s population.
Among the victims, there was a family of five who remained in a house filled with water. According to local mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, two months' worth of rainfall occurred within just seven hours, but the rainwater drainage system was not prepared for such conditions.
Additionally, over 42,000 residents across the region were left without electricity. More than 500 specialists were involved in rescue operations.
Currently, necessary measures are being taken to restore the city, but the full number of victims and affected people is still being determined. Efforts to reduce the damage and consequences caused by this incident are ongoing.
