
The updated results of the Visa Index international ranking, which compares the possibilities of passports and conditions for visa-free travel worldwide, have been announced. According to it, the Uzbekistan passport ranks 80th. This means that citizens can enter 62 countries without a visa.

In the new ranking, the Central Asian countries are positioned as follows:
- Kazakhstan — 63rd place (visa-free to 44 countries)
- Kyrgyzstan — 79th place (visa-free to 27 countries)
- Tajikistan — 84th place (visa-free to 23 countries)
- Turkmenistan — 92nd place (visa-free to 48 countries)
Uzbekistan is considered a leader among these countries in terms of visa-free travel opportunities.
The strongest and weakest passports
According to the Visa Index:
- Strongest passport — Singapore (visa-free to 195 countries)
- Weakest passport — Afghanistan (visa-free to only 10 countries)
How is the ranking calculated?
The position of a passport in the index is evaluated based on:
- how many countries its holders can travel to without a visa,
- how many require an electronic travel authorization (eTA),
- and how many require a visa.

New freedoms added in 2024
In 2024, the following updates were implemented for Uzbekistan citizens:
- UAE, Thailand, Oman — granted the right to travel without a visa;
- An agreement was signed with China for visa-free travel for up to 30 days (expected to come into effect soon).
Uzbekistan passport opportunities are expanding
Holding a high position in the passport index is not only about travel but also an indicator of international trust. In recent years, the geography of visa-free travel has been expanding, and this trend is expected to continue.
