Trump announced Gaza peace talks in Sharm ash-Shaykh
US President Donald Trump announced that peace talks regarding the Gaza region are ongoing in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized that there is a very high possibility of reaching a peace agreement as a result of the negotiations. The talks are mainly focused on the release of hostages and prisoner exchanges.
According to Trump's plan, hundreds of Palestinians could be returned in exchange for the release of 48 hostages. If the parties reach an agreement, humanitarian aid is planned to be sent to Gaza soon.
The Hamas organization has expressed agreement with some parts of the proposal, but has not yet given a clear response regarding the surrender of weapons and relinquishing political roles. Representatives from Qatar and Egypt are also actively participating in the negotiations.
The UN Secretary-General and other international organization leaders support this initiative. At the same time, reports continue to come in about ongoing fighting in the Gaza area and many civilians being affected.
