On Friday, October 10, a strong explosion occurred at the Accurate Energetic Systems (AES) facility located in Tennessee, USA. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to local authorities, at least four people have been hospitalized as a result of the incident, and contact has not yet been established with 18 workers. Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis stated that several people died in the explosion, but the exact number has not yet been officially announced.
Fox News, citing its sources, reported that there are multiple casualties. The plant where the explosion occurred is located about 80 kilometers from Nashville.
Emergency services, rescuers, and mine disposal specialists have been deployed to the scene. Sheriff Davis said there is a possibility of a second explosion and that the investigation may take several days.
He emphasized to journalists that time is needed to fully control the situation. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
Officials stated that the Accurate Energetic Systems plant specializes in producing explosives for the defense sector. Founded in 1980, the company manufactures various materials used for military and commercial purposes.
According to The Washington Post, AES has supplied gunpowder, dynamite, anti-personnel mines, and components for large-caliber shells to the US Army for many years. This is not the first tragedy at this plant.
In 2014, a similar explosion occurred, resulting in one death and three injuries. Currently, the site is cordoned off, and investigation and technical inspection work is ongoing.
US officials are urging citizens to stay away from the area until the situation stabilizes.
