Letitia James is known as one of the most prominent political opponents of US President Donald Trump. Earlier, similar charges were brought against another critic of Trump, former FBI Director James Comey.

The investigation was conducted by prosecutor Lindsay Halligan, appointed by Trump. The previous prosecutor resigned, stating that there was insufficient evidence.

According to the charges, Letitia James provided false information to the bank in 2020 to obtain favorable credit for purchasing real estate in Virginia. The Attorney General denied these accusations, calling them baseless and politically motivated.

In her view, Donald Trump is attempting to take personal revenge through this. This incident is being closely watched in US politics.
