Lawrence Watkins, who lives in New Zealand, changed his surname and added a second name consisting of 2,253 words, entering the Guinness World Records. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by the Daily Mail publication. Watkins officially changed his name in March 1990 and applied to the district court to register this record.
Although the court initially accepted his request, it was later rejected. Nevertheless, Watkins did not give up and took the case to the New Zealand Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court recognized his activity and officially acknowledged him as the holder of the longest name in the world. However, to prevent such cases from recurring, two laws were amended in the country.
In the Guinness World Records, Watkins' full name occupies approximately six pages. Watkins says he has always dreamed of being among record holders and wanted to work in this field.
