The Montenegrin government has canceled the visa-free regime for citizens of Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Egypt. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
An official decision was made at the 98th session of the Government Council held on October 9, 2025, chaired by Prime Minister Miloǰko Spaiç. According to the government statement, this decision was made in accordance with Montenegro's commitments regarding visa policy within the process of joining the European Union.
The state continues to align with the European Union's common visa policy based on the "Reform Agenda" set for 2024–2027. Through this decision, Montenegro once again confirmed its commitment to its obligations on the path to full EU membership.
Accordingly, the previously granted visa-free regime for citizens of Uzbekistan, Armenia, and Egypt has been canceled. The Government Council also made amendments to the visa regime regulations.
From now on, citizens of Uzbekistan will be required to obtain a visa to enter Montenegro. The new procedure will come into effect on October 29, 2025.
It is worth noting that the Montenegrin government introduced a visa-free regime for Uzbek citizens in June 2023. Additionally, direct regular flights have been established between the two countries, and cooperation in the tourism sector has been actively developing.
Experts believe that the new decision is part of Montenegro's process of harmonizing political and legal standards with the European Union and serves to accelerate the country's aspiration for full EU membership. Thus, starting from autumn 2025, Uzbek citizens will be required to obtain a visa in advance to travel to Montenegro.
This change may affect tourism and business trips, but friendly relations between the two countries will be maintained.
