Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has deprived a group of individuals of their citizenship. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The “Suspilne” publication, citing a source from the presidential administration, reported this. Among those stripped of citizenship are Odessa city mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, former people's deputy Oleg Saryov, and renowned ballet dancer Sergey Polunin.
Zelenskiy stated that this decision was made because it was established that these individuals hold Russian citizenship. At the beginning of October, ten people died in Odessa due to heavy rain.
Following this, the city's residents demanded the revocation of Mayor Trukhanov's citizenship, and a petition addressed to the president was signed by more than 25,000 people in a short time. Hennadiy Trukhanov denied the accusations, stating that he does not have a Russian passport and that these claims are being used for political purposes.
These events hold significant importance in the country's internal politics and demonstrate the government's firm stance on citizenship issues.
