US President Donald Trump engaged in heated discussions during a recent meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the negotiations, Trump threw the battle map off the table. According to sources cited by The Financial Times, the meeting on October 17 was tense and contentious.
Trump raised his voice several times and frequently used profanity. According to him, the Ukrainian side is unable to fully control the situation on the battlefield.
The combat maps brought by Zelensky did not change Trump's opinion during the meeting. He threw the map showing the front line off the table and expressed his boredom with seeing such things.
Sources say Trump demanded that Kyiv hand over the entire Donbass region to Russia and reach an agreement with Moscow. He also sternly warned Zelensky, saying, "If Putin wants, he will destroy you."
On October 16, Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to The Washington Post, Putin proposed returning parts of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions to Ukraine in exchange for recognizing full control over Donetsk.
In June, during negotiations held in Istanbul, it was revealed that the Russian side presented a two-option memorandum regarding the withdrawal or prohibition of redeployment of Ukrainian troops from certain regions. The Financial Times emphasized that during the meeting, Trump repeated his views from the conversation with Putin and lectured Zelensky.
After the negotiations, it was reported that the Ukrainian president was dissatisfied and fell into emotional distress. On the same day, in an interview with NBC News, Zelensky stated that for the war to stop, both sides need to remain in their positions.
Western publications believe that Trump supports resolving the conflict through diplomatic means and considers an agreement with Russia the only way to halt military actions.
