Sometimes, even crimes committed in the last century can be solved with the help of advanced technologies. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Forensic experts in New York City, USA, managed to solve a 1984 murder case. The investigation was aided by only one piece of evidence — an ice cream stick.
The tragedy occurred almost 41 years ago. An unknown person attacked and killed 16-year-old Teresa Fusco, who lived in New York.
Later, the court charged three men, who were held in custody until 2003. At that time, DNA analysis excluded their involvement in the crime.
Years passed, and investigators decided to review the case. District officials began monitoring 64-year-old American Richard Bilodo.
Experts sent the ice cream stick he discarded to the laboratory. As a result, the DNA sample taken from saliva residues fully matched the DNA found on the body of the victim Teresa Fusco in 1984.
Richard Bilodo was quickly arrested and officially charged with killing the teenage girl. So far, he denies any involvement in the crime.
According to Jared Rozenblatt, assistant district attorney, the time for reckoning has come in 2025. This case demonstrates that even crimes from many years ago can be solved with the help of advanced technologies.
