US President Donald Trump has imposed new sanctions against Russia's “Rosneft” and “Lukoil” companies. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

He stated that this measure was necessary to force Russia into a peace agreement with Ukraine. According to Trump, the time to impose sanctions had already come.

Additionally, Trump canceled the planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest. He emphasized that Putin was not approaching the negotiations seriously and said that every time they talked, there was no result.

Trump hopes that the new sanctions will encourage Russia to stop the war. According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the new sanctions target companies financing Russia's war.

This decision is similar to previous sanctions by the United Kingdom and the European Union. The European Union plans to stop importing liquefied gas from Russia starting in 2027.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the US's new sanctions as a positive step, emphasizing that these measures could force Russia to return to negotiations. These sanctions are considered an important part of the international community's efforts to resolve the situation in Ukraine.
