Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy once again raised the issue of strengthening the country's defense capabilities at the European Union leaders' summit held in Brussels. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to information provided on the president's official website, Ukraine has the opportunity to receive long-range Tomahawk missiles developed by the United States through European reserves. Zelenskiy emphasized that these weapons are important not only for enhancing defense capabilities but also for making Russia clearly feel the consequences of the war.
According to him, Tomahawk missiles are available not only in the United States but also in some European countries. Ukraine is already conducting negotiations with countries that may be able to provide assistance.
Zelenskiy noted that Putin's reaction to long-range weapons has been nervous because such weapons could drastically change the course of the war. Additionally, the Ukrainian leader called on European countries to transfer Russia's frozen assets to Ukraine's disposal as soon as possible.
He stated that these funds are necessary not only to support the economy but also to meet military needs. Zelenskiy emphasized that the main part of the funds is planned to be directed towards purchasing European weapons and noted that this money will serve the security of all Europe.
According to analysts, Zelenskiy's statement may initiate a new diplomatic phase regarding long-range weapons within the European Union. His words could influence the positions of some European leaders and potentially lead to new tensions in relations with Russia.
Currently, although some European countries have not officially discussed providing such weapons to Ukraine, calls for strict measures against Russia's military actions are growing stronger. Zelenskiy's speech at the summit is regarded as an important diplomatic step for Ukraine.
He reminded European countries not only to strengthen political but also military assistance and stressed the necessity of ensuring European security through the Ukrainian front. This is considered a crucial factor in maintaining regional stability and peace.
