At an auction held in Paris, Pablo Picasso's work titled “Bust of a Woman Wearing a Flowered Hat (Dora Maar)” was sold for 37 million dollars. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Initially, the artwork was estimated to be between 9 and 11.6 million dollars, but the final price was four times higher than expected. This painting is considered a portrait of Dora Maar, the famous artist's muse and lover.
Picasso created this piece in July 1943. Later, in 1944, the artwork entered a private collection and was kept in private hands for 80 years.
According to experts, the condition of the artwork is excellent. Dora Maar herself was active as an artist and photographer.
Her relationship with Pablo Picasso lasted from 1936 to 1945. Art critics emphasize that this work not only expresses Picasso's period of love and inspiration but also reflects his mental state during the years of World War II.
This painting holds an important place in art history and represents a distinctive period in the artist's creative career.
