Louvre Looting: Third Suspect Arrested
The third suspect in the Louvre museum robbery case has been arrested and taken into custody. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
BFMTV reported on this matter. Currently, his interrogation is ongoing by police investigators.
On October 26, two suspects were detained in connection with this case. One of them is a person living in the Seine-Saint-Denis area, who was caught while attempting to fly to Algiers from Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Paris prosecutor Laura Beko expressed dissatisfaction over the leak of information about the investigation process, emphasizing that this situation is hindering the inquiry involving more than a hundred investigators. Interior Minister Laurent Nunes thanked police officers for their prompt actions but refrained from disclosing details.
The robbery occurred on October 19. Four masked criminals stole eight pieces of jewelry dating back to the 19th century.
The total value of these items is estimated at approximately 102 million dollars. Among the stolen items were the crown and earrings of Queen Marie-Amélie, as well as the tiaras of Empress Eugénie.
At present, the stolen items have not yet been recovered. Investigations are ongoing.
