Typhoon 'Kalmegi' in the Philippines: 66 people died
On November 5, 2025, at least 66 people died as a result of Typhoon "Kalmegi" hitting the central regions of the Philippines, and more than 400,000 people were relocated to safe places. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to BBC, the most damage was observed on Cebu Island. Entire villages in this area were submerged underwater.

Currently, 26 people have been declared missing. The majority of the victims died during the flooding.

A state of emergency has been declared in Cebu province. During the typhoon, wind speeds reached 130 kilometers per hour.

This caused houses to be destroyed and roads to be blocked with debris from vehicles and buildings. Military aviation was also involved in the rescue operations.

However, one helicopter crashed, killing all six crew members on board. According to local residents, the water level rose unexpectedly fast.

Residents of Mandaue city expressed: "Our house is filled with mud, we don’t know where to start cleaning." Currently, the typhoon is weakening and moving towards the South China Sea.

It is expected to reach Vietnam in the coming days.
