Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX, has proposed a new idea to combat global climate change. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The information was shared on the X (formerly Twitter) platform. According to Musk, it is possible to control the amount of sunlight reaching the Earth using special satellites powered by solar energy and controlled by artificial intelligence.
This would allow limiting climate change. Musk emphasized that this system enables precise and effective influence on climate processes without complex global structures or bureaucratic decisions.
He called this approach “scientific control over the energy balance for humanity.” Currently, SpaceX has more than 9,000 Starlink satellites in orbit, primarily used for internet distribution.
However, Musk’s new plan envisions expanding the functions of these satellites. At the same time, astronomers have expressed concerns about the negative consequences of such an idea.
They believe that controlling sunlight could lead to unexpected changes in the atmosphere and climate system. Experts refer to this approach as “solar geoengineering.”
The main goal of this method is to reduce global warming by managing or blocking a portion of the sunlight. However, scientists also stress that while this method may have positive results, it could pose risks to humanity.
Elon Musk’s idea has sparked intense debates in scientific circles. Some consider it an “innovative and fantastic idea,” while others view this approach as a “dangerous experiment with the climate.”
