SpaceX founder Elon Musk has announced a new project aimed at mitigating the effects of global warming. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, a system of satellites powered by solar energy and controlled by artificial intelligence will serve to maintain climate balance. Musk emphasized that these satellites can combat climate change by controlling the amount of solar radiation reaching the Earth.
He announced this on his X (formerly Twitter) platform. According to Musk, this system is based on the "geoengineering" method and allows for controlling atmospheric warming or cooling.
According to him, the satellites do not pose a global threat but function as a control mechanism designed for small and precise adjustments. Currently, SpaceX has over 9,000 Starlink satellites in orbit.
They are currently mainly used to expand the internet network. However, in the future, the new generation of satellites is expected to also perform the function of directing or partially blocking solar rays.
Scientifically, this project is related to the field called "solar geoengineering." This direction aims to mitigate the climate by managing or filtering part of the solar radiation before it enters the Earth's atmosphere.
However, many scientists emphasize that such experiments can be dangerous. They believe that artificially affecting solar radiation may lead to unpredictable negative changes in the global climate system.
At the same time, Musk's idea is generating great interest worldwide. Some experts say this project could be an important step in preventing ecological crises.
It is worth noting that such scientific ideas have been discussed before but have not yet been tested in practice. If Musk's plan is realized, it could mark a new era in climate control.
