Syrian President Ahmad ash-Shar’a has arrived in the US capital Washington for an official visit. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by the Syrian state news agency SANA. This visit was recorded in history as the first official trip to the US by the head of the country since Syria gained independence in 1946.
According to information, on November 10, Ahmad ash-Shar’a will hold a meeting at the White House with US President Donald Trump. During the negotiations, political and economic relations between the two countries will be taken to a new level, cooperation in the field of security will be strengthened, and issues related to combating terrorism in the region will be discussed.
It is noted that warmth has been observed in relations between Washington and Damascus prior to the visit. In particular, on November 7, the US administration lifted personal sanctions previously imposed on Ahmad ash-Shar’a.
Additionally, the UN Security Council also adopted a decision to lift international restrictions against the Syrian president. According to analysts, this visit could be an important step towards restoring diplomatic relations between Syria and the US.
Some international experts evaluate this as a "symbolic move towards restoring mutual trust." As a result of the meeting, it is expected that the two countries will not only improve political relations but also open new opportunities in economic cooperation and humanitarian aid.
Political commentators call this visit a new phase in Syria's foreign policy.
