Recently, reports have circulated on social networks and some mass media that a US visa may be denied due to obesity or chronic illness. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In this regard, the US Embassy in Uzbekistan issued a statement declaring such claims unfounded. According to the embassy's official statement, there have been no changes in the US Department of State's health policy regarding the list of Class B diseases.
The decision to grant a visa is made based on a thorough assessment of factors such as the applicant's overall condition, financial capabilities, and health. Additionally, the embassy specifically noted that obesity alone cannot be an automatic reason for visa refusal.
The primary purpose of medical examinations is to determine whether the applicant has any communicable diseases that pose a risk to the public. Furthermore, the embassy stated that one of the important factors for the US government is ensuring that the person entering the country will not become a financial burden to the state and can independently cover their living and healthcare expenses.
This approach is aimed at protecting the interests of US taxpayers.
