The term "Turkistan" has been included in the Turkey school curriculum

On November 20, 2025, the Turkish Ministry of National Education introduced the concept of "Turkistan" into the school curriculum, starting to use it instead of the term "Central Asia." This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This news was reported by the Turkish Minute publication. According to the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, this change was made to strengthen unity among Turkic peoples.

He emphasized that efforts are underway in the Turkish education system to remove geographical terms with imperial connotations. According to Turkish Minute, the term "Turkistan" historically referred to the regions inhabited by Turkic-speaking peoples before the borders of Russia, China, and today's Central Asian countries were established.

These regions have historically been an important part of Turkic culture and heritage.
