On November 19, significant casualties were observed among Palestinians as a result of air and artillery strikes by Israel on the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to CNN, at least 28 people were killed in the attacks, including young children. This incident once again highlighted how fragile and unstable the situation in the region remains, even under the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, nine children were among those killed in the attacks that occurred on Wednesday. At least 77 people sustained injuries of varying degrees.
Ambulances continuously brought the wounded to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital. Inside the hospital, rows of body bags were lined up, including the bodies of three children covered in dust.
According to Gaza Emergency Services, the bloodiest attack took place in the Zaytun neighborhood, where 10 people died simultaneously.
Local residents and rescuers reported that houses and other buildings collapsed as a result of the attack, leaving many people trapped under the rubble. Israeli officials explained the attack by stating that shots were fired at IDF soldiers in the Khan Yunis area and announced that strikes were carried out on Hamas facilities.
They described this as a violation of the ceasefire agreement. However, Hamas denied these accusations and accused Israel of seeking a pretext to justify violence.
Additionally, Hamas called on the United States to pressure Israel to comply with the terms of the ceasefire. The recent escalation occurred just days after the UN Security Council adopted a resolution concerning Gaza.
The resolution outlined further measures to ensure peace in the region. At the same time, Israel also struck weapons depots attributed to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
It was reported that 13 people were killed in the strike on a camp housing Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. The latest attack in Gaza was recorded as the third major escalation since the ceasefire came into effect.
In the two previous attacks, Israel killed approximately 150 Palestinians and lost three of its soldiers. Nevertheless, the main provisions of the ceasefire remain in force for now.
International mediators are developing new phases to ensure long-term peace in Gaza. These phases include Hamas disarming, deployment of international security forces, and the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the territory.
However, many political observers are concerned that the ceasefire may not be stable due to repeated escalations.
