A shark attack occurred on the Kaylis Beach coast in New South Wales, Australia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the time of the incident, a 20-year-old woman died, and a young man next to her was taken to the hospital in serious condition. According to the BBC, one of the witnesses applied a tourniquet to the young man's leg, helping to save his life.
Experts speculate that the attack may have been carried out by a "great white shark." This shark species is considered one of the most dangerous sharks in the world.
After the incident, the beach was temporarily closed, and special hooks were installed to ensure safety. Steve Pearce, head of the Surf Life Saving NSW organization, expressed deep regret about the event and advised the public to be cautious around water bodies near nearby villages and to avoid entering the water.
It is reported that this is the fifth shark attack recorded in Australia in 2025, with the last such incident occurring three months ago in Sydney.
