The new plan of the Donald Trump administration is causing a major stir in world politics. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to The Telegraph, the administration of former US President Donald Trump may propose recognizing Crimea and other occupied territories in Ukraine as part of Russia in order to persuade Russia to make peace. It is said that Trump's special envoy Steve Whitkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner are being sent to Moscow regarding this matter.
According to information, the US is paying less attention to the positions of European countries. Vladimir Putin recently expressed his opinion on this issue as well.
According to him, Washington's legal recognition of Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions as Russian territory could be an important condition for peace negotiations. The initial peace plan developed in cooperation between Steve Whitkoff and Kirill Dmitriev also included a clause about the US practically recognizing Russia's sovereignty over Crimea and Donbass.
Although several amendments have been made to this document, the plan to recognize the occupied territories as belonging to Russia remains an important part of the White House's strategy. However, it is emphasized that this plan does not force Kyiv to accept such control.
However, the European Parliament strongly opposed this plan. In a resolution adopted yesterday, it was clearly stated that European countries will never recognize the occupied territories in Ukraine.
The European Parliament emphasized that Trump's peace plan only hinders achieving peace. This situation indicates the increasing geopolitical tension among Western countries.
