An important meeting took place in Miami between the delegations of Ukraine and the United States. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The US side was represented by the president's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. On the Ukrainian side, National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of Staff Andrey Gnatov participated.
The meeting was held three days after Witkoff and Kushner's visit to Moscow. Earlier, on December 2, they held five hours of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.
During the talks, the US's newly revised peace plan was discussed. According to Russian President's aide Yuri Ushakov, although no full agreement was reached during the negotiations, some aspects of the US proposals were found acceptable by Russia.
Ushakov noted that these documents are aimed at long-term peace. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the main issue remains the fate of the territories occupied by Russia.
Ukraine rejects Russia's demand to withdraw troops from Donbass and considers the vague security guarantees proposed by the US insufficient. The meeting in Miami was the next stage in the ongoing diplomatic dialogue between the US, Ukraine, and Russia.
However, the lack of agreement on the territorial issue remains the main obstacle to the negotiations. At the same time, the renewed direct communication between the US and Russia indicates the beginning of a new phase in international diplomacy.
