Representatives of the US and Ukraine held a meeting in the state of Florida, calling on Russia to take concrete measures to end the war. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The negotiations involved US Special Representative Steve Vitkoff and Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on previous negotiations with Russia.
Vitkoff's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his trip to Moscow was also discussed. In this conversation, which lasted about five hours, it was not possible to reach an agreement on a peace plan.
Although the Kremlin expressed readiness to continue negotiations, Ukraine and its allies remain skeptical about Russia's intention to end the war. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that he wants to fully understand what issues were discussed in Moscow.
The previously leaked peace plan had caused discontent in Ukraine. The plan was revised, but its updated version has not yet been officially announced.
The main disagreements remain related to security guarantees and territories controlled by Russia. Ukraine and European countries believe that strong security guarantees must be provided to Ukraine to prevent new Russian attacks in the future.
Russia opposes this issue. Former US President Donald Trump expressed cautious views on the matter.
Nevertheless, negotiations continue, and the parties strive to reach an agreement to stop the war.
