Thai military reported that they carried out an airstrike on positions in the disputed border area of Cambodia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Bangkok assessed this attack as a response to an assault organized by Cambodia. According to Thai officials, two soldiers were killed and four others injured on Sunday.
Cambodia, however, emphasized that their soldiers did not fire first and stated that the conflict was initiated by Thailand. They believe that Cambodian soldiers only tried not to respond.
On Monday, the Thai army announced that they destroyed a funicular built by Cambodia near the border for transporting weapons. The border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia remains one of the long-standing unresolved issues.
The last major clash occurred in July. During the five-day shootings, dozens of people were killed.
Later, with Malaysia's mediation, the parties reached a peace agreement. US President Donald Trump also participated in these peace talks.
He called the leaders of both countries and warned that if the shootings continued, he would halt trade negotiations. In October, Trump visited Malaysia and witnessed the signing of a peace declaration between the parties.
This event was regarded as an important step towards resolving conflicts in the region.
