Reuters agency reports that tensions have arisen again in the border area between Thailand and Cambodia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Thai naval forces have launched an operation to expel the Cambodian army from Trat province. Rear Admiral Surasant Kongsiri, a representative of the Thai Ministry of Defense, made the following statement on this matter: "Thailand is firmly determined to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Military measures will be taken if necessary." On December 8, the conflict between the two countries intensified further. Bangkok and Phnom Penh accused each other of violating the ceasefire and began evacuating civilians from the border areas.
It is known that Thailand and Cambodia have had disagreements over certain parts of their 817-kilometer-long land border for more than a century. In particular, disputes related to ancient temples have heightened national sentiments and occasionally led to armed clashes.
Due to the conflict in June, both sides suffered more than 40 casualties, and nearly 300,000 people were forced to leave their homes. Such incidents pose a serious threat to peace and stability in the region.
