Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy held consultations with European allies in Canada ahead of an important meeting with former US President Donald Trump in Florida. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the meetings held on December 27, security guarantees for Ukraine and a 20-point peace plan were discussed. At the same time, Moscow is expressing a sharp reaction to this process.
**Meeting in Canada and Europe's Position** Before heading to Florida, Zelenskiy stopped in Canada and communicated via video link with leaders of Europe's leading countries, including Germany, France, Poland, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. During the meeting, the 20-point peace plan to be discussed with Trump was addressed.
According to Zelenskiy, 90 percent of this plan has been agreed upon, while the remaining part includes complex issues such as the status of Donbass and the management of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. **Russia's Actions and Putin's Visit** On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited one of the military command posts and received a report on the successes of the Russian army.
It was reported that the Russian army has taken control of the cities of Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia and Myrnohrad in Donetsk. Putin's recent frequent appearances in military attire are being interpreted by experts as a strategy to increase military pressure before negotiations.
**Warning from Russia's Foreign Minister** Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sharply criticized the European Union's plans to send peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. According to Lavrov, if Europe carries out such an action, their military contingent could become a "legitimate target" for the Russian army.
Lavrov also assessed Europe's position as the main obstacle on the path to peace. **Complexity of the Situation** Currently, the situation on both the military and diplomatic fronts is very delicate.
Zelenskiy hopes that important decisions will be made through negotiations with Trump. At the same time, the Kremlin is striving to gain additional advantages in negotiations by strengthening its military dominance.
The question remains open whether Trump's peace plan can meet the interests of both sides.
