On the night of December 29, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attempted to carry out a drone attack on the headquarters of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Russian officials, 91 unmanned aerial vehicles participated in the attack, all of which were destroyed by air defense systems. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Lavrov emphasized that such actions by Kyiv are "illogical" and will not go unanswered. According to him, targets and timing for retaliatory strikes have been predetermined.
At the same time, Lavrov stated that Russia does not intend to withdraw from negotiations with the US on Ukraine-related issues. However, he noted that recent events may lead Russia to reconsider its position in the talks.
Lavrov also described Kyiv as a "regime that has adopted a policy of state terrorism" and drew special attention to the fact that the attack occurred while active dialogue was ongoing between Russia and the US. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky firmly denied the claims made by Russia about the "attack on Putin's headquarters."
He called Lavrov's statement false and emphasized that Moscow is looking for a pretext for new attacks. According to Zelensky, Russia is trying to justify potential attacks on state institutions in Kyiv through these claims.
He recalled that in September, the building of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers was struck by a missile and warned that such incidents could happen again. These events indicate an intensification of political and informational confrontations between Russia and Ukraine.
In the coming days, this conflict may lead to new tensions in both military and diplomatic arenas.
