Russia deployed 'Oreshnik' missile system in Belarus
On December 30, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced that the “Oreshnik” missile complex was put on combat duty in Belarusian territory. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

A video about this system was presented on the ministry’s Telegram page. According to Russia’s RIA “Novosti” and TASS news agencies, the video showed the “Oreshnik” for the first time publicly.

No official information has been provided about the exact location of the missile complex. However, military analysts, based on satellite images, speculate that the complex may be located around the city of Krichev in eastern Belarus.

This area is approximately 300 kilometers from Minsk and 180 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. On December 10, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced that “dozens” of tactical nuclear warheads had been brought into the country from Russia.

According to him, the “Oreshnik” missiles will be installed in special areas where strategic nuclear weapons were deployed during the Soviet era. Lukashenko noted that there are about 30 such facilities in Belarus.

According to Lukashenko, this decision was made not as an act of aggression but as a measure against the increasing risks and modern threats in the region. Additionally, on November 21, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a non-nuclear hypersonic ballistic missile strike on the city of Dnipro in Ukraine.

Putin emphasized that the latest medium-range “Oreshnik” system was used in this operation. According to Russian data, the missile’s flight range reaches from 1,000 kilometers up to 5,500 kilometers.
