Mediation will become mandatory for family disputes in Russia

The issue of introducing mandatory mediation for resolving family disputes in Russia is being considered. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A special draft law on this matter is planned for 2026-2027. This initiative is planned to be implemented by amending the Federal Law "On the Alternative Procedure for Dispute Resolution with the Participation of a Mediator (mediation procedure)."
This initiative is being developed as part of the plan for the development of family and demographic policy. According to the plan, if divorcing parents fail to reach an agreement, they will be required to meet at least once with a professional mediator.
It is also envisaged that court proceedings will be suspended during negotiations held with the participation of a mediator. Additionally, it is planned to create a separate registry of mediators dealing with family disputes.
These changes aim to facilitate the resolution of family conflicts before court and to introduce an effective method for regulating disputes.
